Try Pilates

Try Pilates – If you have been meaning to start exercising and have not yet come up with the perfect type of exercise for your needs. You might at some point like to test out Pilates and see if that suits your requirements. A relatively low impact style of exercise which can be practised by people of all ages and levels of fitness, Pilates was developed during the 1920s by a physical trainer named Joseph Pilates (Hence the name). Since his death in the 1960s many other styles of Pilates were formulated by the followers of Joseph Pilates and there were later some legal wrangles over who owned the right to the name, courts ruled that it was a generic name and could be used by anyone offering such exercise classes. Pilates can have many benefits as an exercise technique and these benefits include: better posture, body awareness, muscle strengthening, relief from pain (especially lower back pain), increased core strength, improved flexibility, better balance and stability. Pilates is mostly done in a group but you can find one to one classes if you would prefer.

Have You Tried Salsa

Have You Tried Salsa? – Ever fancied taking dancing lessons? Too embarrassed, not got the time or got two left feet? Come out of the closet and try your hand (or your feet) at salsa dancing which has become so popular these days. So, what is the attraction? Well it is a lot of fun for a start, it will help you get fit, you will learn a new skill and you will get out and meet lots of new people. That should be enough to tempt you to have a go at salsa, if not just climb back in that closet! Have a look around your local community and see if anyone is offering salsa classes, if you are lucky you might find someone offering a free trial class or taster class, this would be a good opportunity to have a go and see if you like it, nothing ventured, nothing gained. If you had fun and would like to do more you can book a series of classes where you can join lots of other like-minded people who all want to learn salsa. You could try a dedicated salsa course which might have fewer people and give you time to learn the steps properly, large classes can get a bit frantic. You can learn salsa dancing as a single person or as a couple, if you are single it is a great opportunity to meet new people of the opposite sex, you never know you might even meet a new partner. SO why not give salsa a bash and see hoe you get on.

Zumba Classes Are More Fun – Are you always wanting to do more exercise but get bored with most forms of exercise? It could be that Zumba is the thing for you. A single Zumba class could expend between 500 and 1000 calories, and while you are losing those calories you are also having fun. Attending any Zumba session and you will notice the happy smiling faces of all the people who are participating, that is because Zumba is just so much fun to do, you won’t even realise that you are getting fit and burning off all that excess fat. You will generally find someone holding Zumba classes in pretty much any decent sized town in the UK and even in many larger villages. Look at your local leisure centre or village hall and somebody will likely be holding a Zumba class at least one day a week. Anyone of any age can join in and apart from the exercise, you are sure to meet lots of new people and widen your social circle. If you are really keen you might want to learn to be an instructor and hold your own classes to teach others. One step at a time though eh?
