The best known and largest of Fuerteventura’s resorts, Corralejo is situated on the northernmost tip of the island, the least populated of the main Canary Islands off the coast of North West Africa. This former fishing village has developed into a considerable holiday resort offering the main requirements needed for the typical package beach style holiday in the shape of sandy beaches, sunny weather, quality hotels and good facilities. Fuerteventura and Corralejo in particular certainly has beaches and these stretch for many miles in each direction and include a huge area of sand dunes which now form a Natural Park. The superb weather conditions allow visitors to travel here right through the year, with plenty of sunshine whatever month you arrive. From the main beach you can look across the turquoise blue ocean to the neighbouring island of Los Lobos another Natural Park which you can also visit. The best way to arrive in Corralejo, Fuerteventura is by way of the ferry from Playa Blanca on the island of Lanzarote, but you could also fly into the airport at Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura’s capital.

Mahon Menorca
The elegant town of Mahon is the capital of the Balearic Island of Menorca, it is renowned for having one of the best natural harbours in the world, this made it an attractive target for the British Navy, who took the town and the island in 1708, and made Mahon their main port in the Mediterranean. Mahon today is a more peaceful place and is an attractive tourist destination, with many places of interest and a great range of facilities, you are more likely to see a luxury yacht in the harbour these days than a warship although it is still a working port. The town enjoys a wonderful climate and the weather in Mahon is pleasant all year round attracting thousands of visitors both during the hot summer months and also during the agreeable winter months. Carp Fishing in Spain
Today’s picture is of us fishing at the Embalse de Pedrera reservoir located near to Torremendo just inland from the Costa Blanca coastline of Spain. We took part in an angling safari last August to try out the local carp fishing which is said to be good. In the event although we had a good day out the fish weren’t really biting and only 2 small carp were caught, one by myself and one by Nathian, David (featured in the photo) unfortunately went fishless. The cost of the angling safaris are 70 euros per person (they picked us up from Cabo Roig), which I think is reasonable although we would have liked to have caught more fish and perhaps have tried some different baits and methods, but as they say “that’s fishing”.
