The city walls which comprise a double line, with sixty eight towers and 6 gateways was begun in the late 12<sup>th<\/sup> century. Plasencia strangely enough, has 2 cathedrals, the first took so long to build, that it was out of date by the time it was completed, so a new, more modern one was constructed though this also took some 200 years to build.
