Taking Judo Classes – If you fancy taking up a new hobby, need something to increase your level of fitness or fancy improving your self defence capabilities, you might want to consider signing up for local Judo classes. Most major towns are home to a number of Judo clubs or schools and apart from gaining the aforementioned benefits you can also use these to meet with new people and make new friends. Now Judo is one of the more modern of the martial arts and was in fact only formulated in 1882 by one Kano Jigoro from Japan. It is now practised worldwide and is even a sport in the Olympic Games, so it has come a long way since the 1880s.

The first world champion of Judo was Shokichi Natsui who won the title in 1956.

This gentle system of unarmed combat has now become mostly a sport with complex rules and scoring methods, bit don’t let this put you off because it is a fun thing to do with plenty of health and wellbeing benefits. Maybe if you stick to it you will one day be a Black Belt!
